Automated Drum Buffer
Hardware/Mechanical Design
This automated drum buffing system was engineered for HHG Drums to minimize manual labor and improve production efficiency within a $4,000 budget. The assembly features a motorized two-axis linear rail system, dual ball screws, and a custom lathe-chuck housing, ensuring precise mechanical translation for the buffing equipment.
Automation
To achieve full automation, the high-voltage machine synchronizes a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), two stepper motors, and various limit switches. The hardware is managed by a custom control system written in Arduino, effectively bridging the gap between mechanical construction and electrical automation.

Electronics
I managed the machine's electrical components and system integration. This involved designing a custom printed circuit board (PCB) featuring a rotary encoder and an OLED screen to provide an accessible, intuitive user interface for the operator.
